Richard Jones
Richard retired from a 42 year career in music education in 2019 having been a secondary school teacher and leader, a national adviser and a music hub leader. In retirement he is the Independent Chair of the Music Hub in Somerset and the combined hub of Devon and Torbay. He has been a MEC Trustee for four years and have represented the organisation at events in Paris, Stirling and London. He has also curated a number of short interviews with member organisations discussing how they continued to thrive during the pandemic.
His particular interest is how, as a devolved kingdom, the four nations are
developing music education policy. Richard has a worldwide perspective being a member of ISME and the International Music Education Policy Group. Richard is a doctoral student at UWE researching into the conditions which create excellence in school music.
