About the event
Why are so many people still talking about the same issues around race and music education that they were 10 years ago? In this Seminar we will explore and celebrate good working practice and debunk the myth that ‘we are all on a journey’ when talking about race. And if we want to think of it as a journey why is it taking so long for us to reach a destination?
How can you ensure accountability for improving issues around race and make a real difference in music education? How can we do this together and move the story on?
This seminar is a brave space where all are invited to attend particularly those of you working in music education who identify as being part of the Global Majority.
Panellists include:
Sharon Jagdev Powell - Panel Chair (MEC Trustee and Interim Head of Service, Leicestershire Music Hub)
Natasha Hendry (Music and Research Psychologist)
Sooree Pillay (Orchestras Live - Regional Producer - Midlands)
Roger Wilson - (Director of Operations Black Lives in Music)
